Count Snackula The greatest introduction to New Zealand musicians that I never knew I wanted!

Yeah, it's a cover album, but these are more like interpretations, in the mold of the Melvins doing Kiss. Put another way, the Muppets did Treasure Island but the Muppets were still the draw.

Anyway, it sounds like Beastwars. Check out the originals, too! Favorite track: Waves (originally performed by Superette).

Colin M. I’m now certain that Beastwars is incapable of releasing anything I don’t love. They truly make all of the tracks sound like they could have been written by them, and the Beastwars sound is a peerless one. Reminds me a lot of The Hellacopters’ “Head Off” insofar as it is a bunch of bangers that if you weren’t familiar with the originals you’d think they wrote a varied and kickass album slightly different from their other material. Excellent! Favorite track: Dark Child (originally performed by Marlon Williams).

about

BEASTWARS Wellington, New Zealand

New Zealand sludge metal four-piece Beastwars abide by one steadfast maxim: Obey the Riff. Described as "a mongrel mix of Kyuss, Neurosis, and the mighty Godflesh..." (NZ Herald) and playing "heavy tunes for heavy times" (ALARM), the Wellington-based sonic soothsayers utilize the chaos that engulfs our world as ammunition for their defiant howls into the abyss. ... more
